Subsurface Irrigation – Port Neill Oval installed with Toro Drip-In with Rootguard Tube.
Subsurface Irrigation in conjunction with Gerry Hemming of Eyre Landscaping & Irrigation installed 46,400 meters of Toro Drip-in with Rootguard tube into the Port Neill oval for the District Council of Tumby Bay.
Gerry Hemming of Eyre Landscaping & Irrigation was the winning tender for the install of a subsurface irrigation at the Port Neill Oval.
He contracted John Greenwood of Gawler Irrigation to install 46,400 meters of Toro Rootgaurd tube into the oval with their state of the art machine design especially for the installation of drip tube with minimum ground disturbance.
The system was designed to use water from the town new waste water plant and services the oval through it 28 zone system.
The system runs from a 220,000-liter tank at the oval and is pumped through a Grundfos CRNE 5-9 2.2kW Pump Package incl. loss of prime protection. The filtration is, by the way, a Toro Clear-Flo 50mm 120 micron disk filter.
The mainline and valve takeoffs were in 63mm poly pipe using electrofusion fittings which were supplied by Electrofusion Fittings Online.
The ground conditions were very dry and not ideal condition for laying the tube which made the going tough but our machine handled it. The oval surface had little ground disturbance after laying the tube and the Council was impressed with the end finish.
The project was completed in four weeks.
